A time for reflection

Motherhood is one hell of a journey, which is filled with ups and downs. With self critical questions that we ask ourselves every single day and judgment, from no other than other mums. The past few months have been such a learning curve. I learned so much about myself and my little one.

Every mum does it, we look around and start asking questions and our heads are filled with self doubt. Am i doing this right? Am i to harsh? Am i to judgemental. Am I doing this the proper way....  With social media around us and other mums constantly uploading pictures of their perfect parenting skills, or rather what they want the world to think.....Their organic, gluten free approach to life. It does add more pressure, where you start examining what you are doing and asking, but is it enough? Or other mothers posting pictures of new learning games they play with their kids. As amazing as these ideas are, sometimes i think the yester years where so much better. Where people didn't publicly promote everything that is happening. Are we as mums creating more pressure for each other by doing this? The answer, yes.... a world where we are really opening ourselves up to self criticism and we need self approval from other mums.

School has just started here and the latest trend is mums posting pictures on forums of what they are sending their kids to school with. Fruit kebabs, mini sliders, pealed grapes, shaped sandwiches. After all this preparation, they take a snap of it and post it on facebook on mum groups and ask for opinions. 1 - Are these people trying to publicly show how much they are doing for their kids? 2 Why do they need approval from other mums so badly? You send your kids to school with a gorgeous lunch box, amazing....why do you need approval? The worse thing about all this, other mums still criticise their amazing work.

To all the mums other there, relax a little. Sit down, look at your family and appreciate them. Look how far they have come! You have done a good job so far, yes there will be times you start questioning if you can do more, but one important question you need to ask yourself is, are your kids happy? If the answer is yes, then you are doing a good job!

Over and out...
